PC-ROSET is a PC based off-line teaching tool for Kawasaki robots. It works on a desktop PC or laptop PC enabling the user to carry out robot teaching anywhere.

Available in three versions:

  • Material Handling
  • Arc Welding
  • Painting

PC-ROSET operates the same way as the actual robot, allowing precise simulation by using the same internal software as in the robot controller.

PC-ROSET outputs accurate cycle time and the teaching data created using PC-ROSET can be sent to the robot controller for execution.

The PC-ROSET software includes algorithms for checking interference between robot arm and work, tool, and surroundings; the robots, work and surroundings are displayed on the PC using realistic computer graphics.

Software Structure

Scene Viewer— The robot itself, the work, and surroundings are displayed on the PC as realistic 3-D computer graphics.


Data Viewer— Data Viewer enables creation of robot teaching programs with easy mouse operation.



AS Control Panel— AS Control Panel simulates the robot motion using the program created with Data Viewer.

Major Functions of PC-ROSET

Adding new models
(simple model)
Simple models such as cylinders, bricks, and cones can be added for work or obstacle models.
Loading work data 3-D work data in a VRML format can be loaded.
Loading tool data 3-D tool data in a VRML format can be loaded.
Position check of robot installation availability PC-ROSET analyzes the possible robot setting position, helpful in robot application planning.
Teaching procedures

There are two ways to teach poses in transformation value; from the Teaching Panel on the AS Control Panel and from the Data Viewer.

Using the Painting Command Editor box, commands used in an actual robot operation can be added.

Simulation The created program can be transferred into AS Control Panel and can be executed. AS Control Panel is linked with the Scene Viewer and the simulation results are reflected in the Scene Viewer graphics, so that interference between robot arm, works, tool and surroundings can be checked.
Conveyor synchronization Conveyor synchronization can be simulated.
Cycle time calculations Using the Cycle Time dialog box, PC-ROSET outputs a list of cycle times for each motion step. Simulated results can be output in a CVS format. Analysis of the robot motion with software, e.g., Excel, is possible.
Spraying Path Spraying path and air-cutting path can be indicated with different colors in the Scene Viewer.
I/O Monitor I/O signals (Output, Input, Internal) can be checked and modified using the I./O Monitor.
Interlock between robots can be set.
