Caterpillar Corporation’s CQI Award

Kawasaki Robotics (USA), Inc. was named as a 2001 finalist by Caterpillar Corporation’s Track-Type Tractor Division CQI Award. The award was presented to Kawasaki Robotics for their Case to Frame D6/D7 Robot Weld Process. The Kawasaki team developed a new improved process to address the need for replacement of aging welding robots used on the finish welding of D6 and D7 Case to Frames. The new process increases the percentage of case to frames that are currently robot welded, reduces cycle time, increases operator safety, improves weld quality, reduces rework time, improves machine efficiency and reduces consumables.
